LanceDB, a San Francisco, CA-based developer of a database optimized for artificial intelligence models, has raised an $8 million seed funding round.

The round was led by CRV, with participation from Essence VC and Swift Ventures, bringing LanceDB's total outside funding to $11 million.  

CRV is a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage enterprise and consumer startups. The firm prefers to invest in the life science, consumer products and services, and enterprise sectors.
