by Kay Aloha Villamor January 30th, 2023

DevZero, a Seattle, WA-based software development startup led by former Uber engineers, announced $26 million in funding, which included a previously unannounced $5 million seed round led by Foundation Capital and a newer $21 million Series A led by Anthos Capital.

Other backers include Fika Ventures, Foundation Capital, and Madrona Venture Group.

The startup also announced the general availability of its platform, which aims to make it easier for developers to write code in the cloud.

Debo Ray, CEO, and co-founder spent nearly six years at Uber, working in infrastructure and product security. Co-founder and COO Rob Fletcher also worked at Uber and most recently was a security engineering manager at Meta.

Okta, Carta, and others are using DevZero’s software, which gives developers building with Kubernetes or serverless architectures a production-like environment on their local devices.

DevZero is among a group of “DevOps” startups selling tools to improve developer efficiency as more companies shift to cloud-based services.
