A5X, a fintech company based in Brazil, is building a new derivatives exchange to transform the local capital markets. The company recently announced it secured $70 million in a Series D funding round, bringing its total funding since inception to approximately $142 million.
Investors
The Series D round was led by Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, and Kaszek, with participation from existing investors including IMC, Jump Trading, Optiver, XTX Markets, and ABN AMRO Clearing. XP also exercised its purchase option and joined A5X's investor base.
A5X Use of Funds
Capital from the Series D round will be used to finance operations until reaching the break-even point. This includes satisfying the regulatory capital requirements necessary to operate as a market infrastructure and scaling overall operations.

Founded in 2023 by Carlos Ferreira, Karel Luketic, Julian Chediak, and Nilson Monteiro, A5X aims to create new infrastructure for the Brazilian derivatives market to challenge existing market concentration.
