Sonio, a Paris, France-based medtech company that utilizes AI to automate ultrasound reporting, ensuring quality control of images and identifying potential anomalies, raised $14 million in Series A funding.
The funding round was led by Cross Border Impact Ventures, an impact fund based in North America, and the Elaia funds.
Other participants in the round included OneRagtime and returning angel investors like Dominique Gaillard (former president of France Invest), Alain Decombe (Dechert), and Yann Fleureau (founder of Cardiologs).
The newly raised funds will be used to improve Sonio's software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution and support its commercial development in the United States.
Additionally, the technology will be adapted to be used with portable ultrasound scanners, allowing for image quality control and the detection of potential anomalies using AI.
Sonio offers an AI-powered prenatal screening solution that automates ultrasound reporting. The aim is to ensure healthy pregnancies worldwide, irrespective of economic challenges or other difficulties faced by medical teams and patients. The software enables ultrasounds to be conducted according to high and verified quality standards.
