Moonhub, a San Francisco, CA-based artificial intelligence company aimed at making the hiring process more automated for recruiters and less biased for candidates, raised $4.4 million in seed funding.
The round was led by Khosla Ventures and Google Ventures, with participation from AIX Ventures, Day One Ventures, and several angel investors such as YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, Mike Volpi, Ram Shriram, and Stanford AI Lab professor Christopher Ré.
“We’re building Moonhub and at the core we want to be recruiting AI for fast-growing companies. And what we do is we have a core platform that allows companies to find the best talent for any given opportunity, and work with in-house experts to actually hire people and engage them for those opportunities,” Moonhub founder and CEO Nancy Xu said.
Moonhub provides a recruiting platform that utilizes conversational AI to improve job candidate searches. Its platform guides recruiters through a series of follow-up questions that help to fine-tune the search and can even draft initial outreach emails, both examples of its generative AI technology
It aims to counteract this trend by gathering billions of data points on candidates, not only from LinkedIn, but also from traditionally overlooked sources like Google Scholar, GitHub, Upwork, Twitter, and StackOverflow.
Currently, Moonhub's customers, mostly tech firms, must work with the startup's recruiters to run candidate searches, but the company plans to release some of its core AI technology directly to customers as a software solution later this year.
