Metamaze Raises €1.5 Million in Seed Round

Metamaze, Antwerpen, Belgium-based Intelligent Document Processing (IDP) platform that works based on artificial intelligence, raised €1.5 million in a seed round.

The round is a combination of capital and loans, AI expert Faktion BV invested 400,000 euros, among other things. The start-up can also count on more than 1 million euros provided by management, shareholders, and business angels.

With this new financial boost, Metamaze will focus on accelerating the go-to-market in Belgium and the Netherlands. They are also looking abroad, with the Nordics as a first test case.

AI or machine learning solutions are thereby offered specifically per business case. At the end of 2020, Metamaze was created as a spin-off of Belgian AI expert & Incubator Faktion. Almost a year later, they can count some prestigious names among their customers: AXA Bank Belgium, Atlas Copco, Borealis, Vandersanden, Tradeflow Capital, Kone Belgium. Thehe management team of Metamaze changed, Current CFO Lieven Dhaene and CTO Jos Polfliet were reinforced by two colleagues who were already active within Metamaze. Former Chief Commercial Officer Niels Van Weereld was appointed CEO and Stefanie Caenen was appointed Chief Product Officer. Moreover, some new board members were appointed: Alex Brabers (ex-GIMV), Jeroen Van Godtsenhoven (ex-GM at C3.ai and ex-SAS) and CEO Niels Van Weereld.
