by Kay Aloha Villamor in March 15th, 2023

Adept, a San Francisco, CA-based machine learning research and product lab focused on general intelligence, raised $350 million in Series B funding.

The round was led by General Catalyst and co-led by Spark Capital, with additional participation from existing investors, new financial partners, and some of the most iconic companies in tech.

The funds will be used to help the company launch its first product based on that assistant, accelerate the training of its AI models, and add to its team.

Adept’s first large model for action, ACT-1, can execute complex user requests across several software tools and can even coordinate actions across multiple applications if needed. ACT-1 can be used to perform tasks such as importing LinkedIn URLs into recruiting software, researching information online, setting up spreadsheets, and much more.

Adept has already made a prototype of ACT-1 available on desktop computers and is planning to launch a mobile version soon.
